Every hockey legend starts somewhere. Our Learn to Play Hockey program is the perfect introduction to the sport. Tailored for kids aged 5-16, this program focuses on the fundamentals, from stick handling to game strategies. It's the ideal stepping stone to competitive play.

Learn to Play can help your child learn and grow in all aspects of life. Playing hockey helps improve children’s physical fitness while strengthening their mental health, encouraging leadership behaviors, fostering character development, and teaching important life lessons.

Learn to Play is a program that provides a unique opportunity for families to join the Boca Ice Hockey family and for participants to develop fundamental skills to help them succeed both on and off the ice. Learn to Play’s goal is to inspire youth and welcome more families into the hockey community. 

The value of learning to play hockey goes beyond skating and puck-handling skills. Its’ greatest value is the role it plays in the development of character and life skills such as RESPONSIBILITY, RESPECT, INTEGRITY, PERSEVERANCE and TEAMWORK. Learn to Play is the start of a new experience, extending further than the ice. It’s about falling down and getting up, making new friends from teammates and most of all creating fun memories that’ll last a lifetime.

Our mission here at Boca Ice is to develop each player’s skating, shooting, passing, and stick-handling skills. In addition, the players will learn the fundamentals of the game of hockey while making new friends, learning what it means to be a teammate, and, most importantly, having fun!
